For
House-Calls:
Where is the grooming done?
In most cases, the
grooming is performed in a bathroom, kitchen, or garage. Other suitable
places might be outside (in a fenced yard) during favourable weather
conditions.
Is
it messy?
Pet grooming is inherently a messy business,
but we will always do our best to clean up thoroughly after the grooming
is finished (using only safe, biodegradable cleaning products). AT THIS
TIME, ONLY CATS ARE ELIGIBLE FOR HOUSE-CALL GROOMING.
Can
I watch?
In most cases, the owner may watch while I do the
grooming. However, in some cases, the pet will behave better with
their attention focused only on me, and the distraction of the pet owner
may cause grooming to be dangerous. If at any point during the grooming
process your pet becomes anxious due to your presence, I may ask to groom
the dog out of sight, but still inside your home where I can gently and
safely commence the grooming procedures.
For Home S'paw
Services:
Can I bring my pet to
you?
Yes. I offer limited appointments per day, and
prefer to work on one pet or family's pets at a time. I have
limited space to crate extra pets during the day, so please contact
us if you'd prefer all-day accommodations. Most pets are finished
being groomed and ready for pick-up within 2 hours of drop-off. My
own animals are always kept separated from my grooming clients despite
their friendly dispositions for safety reasons. If your dog
defecates in my yard at drop-off or pick-up, you are responsible for the
clean-up.
What
are Puppy's Breath's qualifications?
My grooming career
started in 2002. Since then, I have worked in several different
environments bathing and grooming cats and dogs of all shapes, sizes, and
breeds, including a feline boarding facility, a doggie daycare, a
full-service grooming salon, performing house-calls, and now working
primarily in my home grooming studio in New Liskeard. My last stint
was grooming for a large pet store in Plano, Texas where I had amassed a
large request clientele and really enjoyed my time there. In 2006, I moved
to Canada to marry my best friend, and once I was able to, I began
offering grooming services to clients in Northern Ontario who are
interested in a more mutually convenient level of service that I can
provide.
Do
you sedate?
No. Some pets may require a little medical
assistance for unpleasant procedures, however a veterinarian is the best
person to fulfill those needs and can advise you more completely.
Do
you groom aggressive dogs/cats?
I do not groom aggressive cats
- period. On the other hand, sometimes it is possible to rehabilitate dogs
who are considered by their owners to be 'aggressive' to accept and even
enjoy the grooming experience. I am more than willing to set up an
appointment to assess the temperament of the pet in need of grooming
services, however, please note that aggressive dogs who are elderly, live
strictly outside and/or have limited human contact will likely not be
receiving grooming services from Puppy's Breath for safety
reasons.
What
products do you use?
I use a variety of pet products that are
specifically designed for and available to professional pet
styling establishments. Currently, I use Show Season, Kelco,
BioGroom, Spa Lavish, and Chris Christensen products.
Can
I get a grooming appointment on evenings, weekends,
holidays?
Although I am usually closed for business on
holidays, I do currently offer certain evening (as late as 9pm) and
weekend appointments. As my business is growing by leaps and bounds,
adding wonderful new pets to our clientele every month, I advise all
clients to book as soon as they can to ensure they get the appointment
time and date of their choosing.
Please call

What
finishing touches are available?
I strive to have you and your
pet BEAMING with joy after each grooming and bathing appointment, so I
like to use handmade bows, collar-bows, stick-on 'earrings', cologne,
bandannas for your enjoyment. I also offer limited chalking
(colouring) and toenail polishing to make your pet look extra DAPPER!
Inquire about these extras when making your appointment.
